Why do I need an interpreter? Can’t my family member/ coworker/ Google just take care of this?
Excellent interpretation requires language proficiency, technical skills, training, and experience. This is especially relevant in healthcare settings, where family or staff may not be able to communicate vital details and information without interpretation training. Poor interpretation can lead to misdiagnosis, legal risks, incorrect medical procedures, and other issues. Similar problems can occur in other fields where interpretation is required. Interpreters in our network are trained not only in language excellence and the jargon of the required field, but also in cultural awareness to help navigate cultural differences and ensure full understanding and accommodation.
What makes Rela unique?
At Rela, we connect you with interpreters who bring high quality to their work and undergo thorough, continuing training. Their interpretation and translation services are second to none because of our commitment to continued education and training to make sure that every interpreter is qualified to help you communicate in your field of work.
Our services are easily accessible and customizable to meet your needs, giving your organization a one-stop language service shop. We return all missed calls within four hours and all emails within six hours. We can also provide a specific language service plan for your organization, no matter where you are in the world. This will help with additional recruiting, screening and training of local interpreters.
How do you assess your interpreters?
All interpreters are qualified by our proprietary training course and continue to receive ongoing training. We also support and train interpreters in NCIHC, IMIA, and CCHCP ethics and standards. ASL and court interpreters in our network are nationally certified and ATA certified translators for document translation. Our interpreter network is constantly improving by seeking further education and training.
Can I request a specific interpreter?
We will connect you with interpreters who possess varying levels of ability and specialization and are assigned based on the information given to Rela at the time of the scheduling. Requests for a specific interpreter will be honored as appropriate and if the requested interpreter is available.
How much do you charge?
A service contract isn’t required to use our services unless you desire to lock in a lower rate on a long term basis, which can be negotiated. Generally, we can guarantee a fixed rate for a year without a service contract. By booking an interpreter, you agree to our terms and conditions.
Do I need special equipment to access your services?
No. You can use a smartphone to access our over-the-phone service and a laptop or desktop computer for our upcoming video and phone interpreting services. Upon request, we can offer specialized equipment to facilitate the use of our phone/video services during conference settings.
Is there a sign-up fee or a monthly minimum cost of your service?
No, you will only need to pay a per-hour price for your interpretation.
What is the minimum charge for on-site interpreters?
All on-site interpreters charge a one-hour minimum. ASL interpreters charge a two-hour minimum for on-site appointments. Phone and video interpreters charge a 15-minute minimum.
How does your billing work?
We bill monthly. You will receive one bill, itemized by service type, duration of work, and cost. We provide customizable billing and reporting upon request.
